2011 Subaru Coupe 216A

2010 Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupe
2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe is in fact based on the C-Class platform, not on the E-Class after which it is named. This is the very same C-Class platform officially called the W204. Renaming the car that replaced the two-door CLK as an E-Class is interesting to say the least, but it follows Merc's previous production of basing the W209 CLK on the W203 C-Class platform.
The new E-Class sedan uses a platform codenamed W212 which is clearly not W204. Speculation is that the E coupe's platform designation is C207.
The question may arise as to why Merc would rename the car after the E-Class when it's based on another. Ernst Lieb, CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA says one of the answers is that the car performs better for its intended purposes with C-Class underpinnings than it would with E-Class architecture. But more telling a reason is that customers will be far more willing to fork out more money for something called an E-Class Coupe rather than one called a C-Class Coupe, especially at the higher end where the margins are bigger.
Weighing about 400lbs (181kg) less than an E-Class sedan and boasting a slicker body, the Coupe will ultimately handle better and be more efficient than its predecessor.
However, due to the growing media attention of this report, MBUSA officials have issued a statement, according to Left Lane News, saying the E-Class coupe shares more than 60 percent of its "components and technology" with the E-Class sedan. In what appears to be an attempt to excercise some damage control and divert some of the attention back to the E-Class the statement fails to address the inner body structure or platform as being W212 or W204.
We tend to believe the original report was accurate and the E-Class Coupe is indeed based on the W204 C-Class despite its common componentry with the W212 E-Class.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo (known internally as the type 955) is a three door sporty supermini officially introduced on 19 June 2008 in Castello Sforzesco in Milan and the international introduction was at British Motor Show in 2008. The car was available in all Alfa's major markets in stages from July. The three-door hatchback is front-wheel drive and will be sold to compete with the MINI and the upcoming Audi A1. Designed by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, the design is believed to be inspired by the 8C Competizione.

The MiTo also features a Q2 electronic differential on the front wheels, which allows for faster and tighter cornering without loss of traction. The aggressiveness of the differential is linked to the DNA switch.

Mazda RX-500 Concept
One of the coolest Mazda RX-500 concept cars here at the Tokyo Motor Show isn't even new. In fact, it's almost forty years old. Originally displayed at the Tokyo show in 1970, this Mazda RX-500 Concept features styling similar to the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO Breadvan, gullwing doors that swing forward, and a 491cc rotary engine just behind the seats. Weighing in at just 1873 pounds, the 247-horsepower concept was said to have reached nearly 150 mph on Mazda's test track.
BMW M3 GTS
The BMW M3 GTS was caught making its rounds at the Nurburgring a couple of weeks ago & it has now been officially revealed. Now lets get down to the details of the most extreme 3 series-based factory car of the current E92 generation. First off is the heart of the Fiery beast which is the 4.4-litre V8 based on the 4.0-litre engine found in the standard M3 which is capable of churning out 450bhp (an increase of 36bhp). The 7-speed M dual clutch transmission (M-DCT) with adapted shift characteristics wraps up the drivetrain.
There is the 19-inch aluminium wheels come wrapped inside 255/35 front and 285/30 rear tyres for added aesthetics. The BMW M3 GTS now sits on an upgraded suspension featuring a yellow springs for a threaded suspension while the rear axle support is said to be bolted in place. Aerodynamics & stability is further enhance with adjustable rear wing which generates high levels of downforce coupled with the front splitter.
BMW's success of reducing the weight of the M3 GTS is attributed to materials such as carbon fibre roof, light body-contoured seats, a new titanium rear silencer whose work can be heard on the video as well as the removal of air conditioning and the rear seat. Safety features to accompany the inherently 'fast' M3 are rollover protection mounts which were bolted on from the B column while a fire extinguisher and a battery master switch/emergency shut-off preparation mechanism.According to BMW, all this will set you back €115,000 (US$170 614) per unit with sales kicking off in Germany come May 2010.
VW Jetta TDI Cup Street Edition
Volkswagen is planning to bring in the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup "Street" Edition to US dealerships beginning next year. If you happen to attend last year's SEMA, you might have caught a glimpse of the concept it was based on.
The Jetta TDI Cup "Street" Edition comes with similar body kit to the version shown off during previous TDI Cup races. One will notice modifications done on front bumper, side skirts and rear valance, and large, red, caliper brakes were added. The brakes are covered by 18-inch Charleston wheels. Sport suspension and sway bars were taken from the GLI.
Under the hood there is the 140 horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that generates a healthy 236 ft-lb of torque. It is paired to either a six-speed manual, or DSG paddle-shift transmission. Highlights of the interior includes Interlagos cloth-lined sport seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Volkswagen mention that the Jetta will be priced form $25,000 & qualifies for a federal tax credit of $1,300. Sales commencing in the beginning of January 2010.
Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG Widebody
This isn't an SUV--it's a rocketship. Under the hood lies the first application of a new, AMG-developed, 32-valve 6.3-liter V-8 engine that utilizes four continuously variable overhead camshafts to help produce a stunning 503 horsepower at 6800 rpm and 465 pound-feet of torque at 5200. Compared with the previous ML55 AMG, that's a 46 percent increase in power and 23 percent more torque. The potent 6.3-liter mates to an AMG Speedshift 7-speed automatic transmission with three driver-selectable shift modes and shift buttons mounted on the back of the steering wheel. Expect a 0- 60-mph time of under five seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. The ML63 also boasts an AMG-tuned Airmatic suspension, standard 19-inch wheels and tires (20-inchers are optional), and aggressive AMG bodywork. The ML63 arrives in the U.S. this spring.
